Elafonisi Island

If you would like to discover a small island covered with sand dunes and small trees, sandy beaches and tropical waters, then you must visit Elafonisi, at the southwest tip of Crete, 76 km from the city of Chania, protected natural reserve by the NATURA 2000 European Act, an idyllic lagoon where the sea is so shallow that you may walk on the pink sand up to the Elafonisi. There you will have enough time to enjoy to swimming in the crystal clear water and then a nice meal on the coast opposite of the island. In addition we visit the Moni of Chrysoskalitisa, on the way to Elafonisi. The church of the monastery is dedicated to Virgin Mary and the Holy Trinity. From up there you will have a magnificent view to Libyan sea!
